Finding the cause of a national 3G network failure
Challenge
A new national 3G network suffered a high-profile failure during its rollout, and the vendor needed an independent view of why.
What we did
- Reviewed the failure and how the network had been specified and sold.
- Traced it to capacity and redundancy that had been reduced to bring the price down.
- Set out the consequences the customer hadn't been shown when it accepted the lower price.

Outcome
A clear account of the root cause, and a lesson we still apply. When a lower price comes from cutting capacity or redundancy, the buyer has to see that trade-off before signing.
